Ssenfuka wants to be a doctor.Ssenfuka’s first spark of inspiration came when he watched Jajja Namuddu care for the sick. She moved with purpose, gathering herbs from the bush and preparing remedies by the fire. Her hands, worn from years of hard work, brought comfort to those who came to her doorstep. Ssenfuka would sit quietly beside her, watching every step. As he grew older, she let him help crushing leaves, boiling roots, and carefully applying poultices. But deep down, he longed to understand the science behind these remedies.

My story

Ssenfuka was born in a small village and Life in the village was simple but tough. Most families, including his own, survived through farming. His grandmother, Jajja Namuddu, raised him from the time he was a little boy. Ssenfuka never knew his father, and his mother had passed away when he was still too young to understand the weight of loss.

Why Dalton needs our help

Ssenfuka needs help from the Serah Foundation because, despite his passion and determination, the road to becoming a doctor is filled with challenges that he cannot overcome alone. Growing up in a small village with limited resources, Ssenfuka has always faced financial hardships. His grandmother, Jajja Namuddu, does everything she can to support him, but their income from farming and selling handmade mats barely covers daily needs, let alone school fees. Education is expensive, and pursuing medicine requires not just school tuition but also access to proper learning materials, transportation, and sometimes even a meal to keep him focused during long study days. Often, Ssenfuka has to study by the dim light of a kerosene lamp, and his books are worn and outdated. Yet, he pushes forward, knowing that knowledge is the only thing that can transform his life and his village.

Dalton is supported by impact partner Serah

Our childcare provides shelter for vulnerable homeless children who have been orphaned due to natural circumstances, such as the death of one or both parents, as well as poverty-related issues that cause despair in parents, causing them to make drastic choices that leave many of these children vulnerable. Some children are rejected by their families because of minor body abnormalities and treatable medical conditions. Others are left on the streets of the capital Kampala, where they risk a lot to make a living. Because every child is precious to God. We cannot sit back and watch these children suffer alone. Still, we can do something to restore their priceless lives and give them hope for the future. As a childcare facility, we provide a home for our children after they are approved by the government agency based on the child's status or condition. He or she is initiated into our family situation, from where they find a sense of belonging. Our mother, who happens to be a widow, can take care of the child together with other siblings he or she finds in the house and together they form a family. We emphasize that our children are formed and raised in a family institute. Because this is a way in which right and appropriate standards of life are instilled. We provide them with quality education, food, health and medicine, clothing, and above all, divine principles. LUF believes that when we empower our children or our society as a whole, we provide a great platform for great African leaders who will one day empower the next generation of Africa and the entire world as a whole.
